Green Laser Diodes

Got really quite really fast. Did these die and go to research heaven or is there something on the horizon? Anybody know. I'd love to source one of them regardless of efficiency. I won't pay 2k but a few hundred and game on.

I don't think the price is anywhere close to a few hundred bucks - at least not yet. My understanding is that they're only just now coming out of the lab, and for more than a few mw of power, you're looking at a 4 figure price tag.

Might be able to make an end-run around this obstacle if someone can find a new product that they're thinking about putting these into. It's possible that it would be cheaper to harvest them (like the Ca$io 445's) vs buying them outright. But I don't know of any products that are using them yet...

I had seen some action on the laser pointer forum and a few people had gotten their hands on them thus the post.

Interesting. Did they mention how much power they were getting out of the diodes?

Wonder if they got their hands on some lab samples (knew someone on the inside), or if they actually bought them at retail.?.

it was never revealed and was a close secret. I assume they knew someone on the inside. I know a little more but I can't tell you as I promised I would not.

IRRC, Laser 66 had'em for about $ 300 a pop. That was awhile ago. It sure is a beautiful color !!! Not very efficient though. Likely a candidate for a little TE/Radiator/Fan treatment. BEAM
