Being "relaxed" about it doesn't negate the implications.
Besides, audience scanning does not automatically make it a better show. Almost all jobs we purposefully do non-audience scanned.

At the end of the day Dan you and Andy know your capabilities and liabilities regarding insurance cover. Personally for me as a potential audience member, I would never attend a trance night if I knew it wasn't audience scanned, for me its a must have, and to attend a night and find it isn't, is the biggest disappointment out. As a trance promoter, I wouldn't hire a company that didn't. However, I'm not a promoter and as part of the audience I have no liability to worry about so its easy for me to say that.

Well that's just a difference of opinion.

I haven't watched Dan's and Andy's clip although I have no doubt its very good.

However, with regard to your comment I probably have come from a different musical background to you, namely the hard dance scene. To me (with no offence meant to anyone who does overhead shows), anything not audience scanned doesn't have the impact. From my background all I can say is that interaction with beams is a major part of the clubbing experience and without that, something is missing. I think you'll find many other people from my kind of musical background who feel the same. That doesn't mean I right or wrong, just that I have a different view of what makes a laser show enjoyable as an audience member.

It has nothing to do with insurance cover or capability.

Well actually I fibbed I did watch it but I didn't want to be drawn into a discussion on the merits of what Dan and Andy did. That's why I kept my original comments purely to the subject of the club night in question and the type of show the O2 allowed.

They are both competent laserists and capable of doing very good shows of the type that they do and probably far better than I could even attempt which is really as much as I'd pass comment on specifically about a particular show.
