Default needing someones help with finding laser show videos from Audio Visual Imagineering.

hello i'm Tyler i am 16 and i have a very big passion for laser shows.

i am trying to find a collection of music laser show videos from that were made by the company Audio Visual Imagineering.

i contacted the company many times myself before asking about the possibility of them selling their laser equipment/projector because i found out a while ago that they were the company that had shows playing at the Mayborn Planetarium in killeen texas that i went to to see laser shows.
unfortunately they were not able to sell a projector with a collection of shows to me because of laser safety regulations.

I sometimes wonder why AVI doesn't consider to make DVD's of their shows for those who do not have thousands of dollars to spend on a projector.

anyway i understand that these shows made by any company are protected by copyrights but i hardly ever get to see these shows and i really miss them and probably won't see them for a long time

if anybody knows where i can get maybe instead videos of shows if that's not possible but a hard drive(thats what plays the graphics and music) with laser shows i would greatly appreciate anyones time on this topic.

if anyone has questions about what else i am looking for please let me know!

    thanks
    Tyler

I think the reason AVI doesn't make their shows available in video format is that there are applications out there that can input video and export laser frames; if they sold a video, in any format, there is a chance the shows could be copied from the video.

Did you ask if you could buy the laser shows themselves? I always thought the shows were for sale; if you could buy the shows, then you could make your own videos if your laser show software exports to video. Ironicly Pangolin exports to the .AVI format.

yeah i did ask but i think they are worried they are going to lose what they mentioned is this "legal variance". which i believe they mentioned is a legal agreement between the FDA and them to only sell to those who are responsible with lasers as mentioned by many people to me that lasers can cause eye damage or skin.
other then that i am not sure. oh well.

Best you can hope for then is for you to go to a planetarium and watch the show in person.

The reason not to sell videos of laser shows is because you need to have synchronization and mastering rights to the music – and frankly, good luck putting that together. Ivan Dryer's first intention was to do a movie, but lasers and film is the definition of a difficult subject, but the attempt lead directly to that first Laserium show. Many companies performing laser light shows back in the day claimed to be doing live performances – the reason - you only need performance rights to the music for a live performance. I guess it’s one of those deep philosophical questions, if you program the show to the music, and nobody’s there to see you press start – is it a live performance? Doing shows live was fun, and cool, and supremely geeky, and did I mention how much fun it was?

    Hi Tyler,

The only on going laser that I know of in Colorado is at Fiske Planetarium in boulder.
    http://fiske.colorado.edu/events/laser-shows.php

It isn't AVI or Laserium or Image Engineering or Laser fantasy but it is a laser show in a dome...

Honestly I don't. I do know that back in the day they built their own system. If they have acquired a system from a big guy that would explain things.

Have you tried youtube? There are tons of videos from photonlexion members as well as videos from laser enthusiast meetups (aka LEMs, search for the terms 'SELEM laser'). Check out some of these channels from some of photonlexicon's members:

dslasers (dslijon) has a selection of Laserium clips (one of the original laser show companies that has led many down the path to photon addiction):
    http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...F&feature=plcp

misterwilling has quite a few laser show videos from SELEM (Southeast Laser Enthusiast Meetup):
    http://www.youtube.com/user/misterwilling

300Evil has some good ones too:
    http://www.youtube.com/user/hightechstuff2

Swamidog makes lumia happen, as well as original lasershows:

Lightwave International has some good promo stuff like this (watch in 720p):

That being said, laser shows are one of the few forms of media that cannot be copied as easily as film, music, etc. In addition to the previously mentioned issues, videos don't capture the color and dimensionality of laser light, and although some show files can be copied, they require laser equipment (which itself can be very specialized) and technical expertise in order to fully express their authors' intentions in a safe manner. Lasers require you to be there. Being in the presence of coherent light and the safety, technical and artistic aspects that go into that experience is what we talk about here. Every now and then, photonlexicon members from various geographic locations get together to set up their gear and hang out (with lasers!). Keep your eye out for a LEM in your area (as a minor, safety and liability issues usually require you to come with an adult).
