Hi again.
I (Still) have my m140 diode in the shipment package.
How do i handle it when i connect it to my flexmod and esd, first time please?

Yea, gottaluvlasers took one of these and basically ran around his house abusing it in various ways that would kill almost any other diode, rubbing it on carpet ect., everything short of taking a bath with it and he wasn't able to kill it. These are probably one of the most durable diodes out there; and if you kill it they are cheap to replace, not 660nm red diode cheap but...

well, 660 is cheap but really easy to kill, especially harvesting it etc etc.
so 445 wins hands down. however, i still like to fool around and handle everything with aligator clips connected to ac ground on the nearest wall plug
"its called character briggs..."
OK so when i want to solder the esd to the diode i dont have to shorten the pinds om the diode before ect.?

one precaution that makes sense, is to short the output of the diode driver before connecting the diode, as there might be a charge in a capacitor and your diode might not like it
the diode driver should not be i operation when you short the output

lick it !
