    Hey... Just spotted this thread...

A couple of years back, I purchased bounce mirrors that look identical to the ones in the images above from a company called PULSE which is a division of OmniSistem. They are OK, but not great- when looking at them, everything has a very slight pinkish tint to it, which leads me to believe that they are not even approaching 100% reflective at 532nm, maybe 80% or so. :? Upon closer examination, I found that they are far from perfect flatness- they all seem to be a llittle bit distorted. This is most noticeable if one tries to look at themselves in the mirror at a distance of 5m or so- the image gets pretty distorted. My bathroom mirror from IKEA is flatter than these!

I use them at the moment to do shows and they work ok for small venues where the distance from one bounce to the next is pretty small, but even so- after a couple of bounces, the combined distortions turn the round beam into a pancake shape- proportions of about 10:1.

So whoever is going to source them- get a single sample first and check for all of the above problems before buying a whole bunch of them :!:

Oh, and if they are good, sign me up for 10 of them

Another option- I am working with an Asian optics company to source some small 1.5" X 1.5" front-surface mirrors. The samples I got were great, reflectivity is ~95% (these are apparently used for some rear-projection tvs or something). So if someone can make or source brackets as pictured above, then I can supply the mirrors, and they can be silliconed on... I will see what kind of price I can get on 4" X 4" mirrors (standard bounce mirror size).

Yet another option- if those ebay mirrors and brackets are cheap, andt he mirrors are not good, we can just use them for the brackets and install the better mirrors right over the existing ones- what do you guys think?

Spending money on good mirrors is not a problem for me. It's the mount that's to expensive. The price I quoted in my first post where without mirrors. And I havn't had any luck with ebay.

    Default First surface mirrors

Here are some mirrors on E-bay that appear to be very similar to one's I've purchased in the past. They work quite well, and can even be cut with a dremel tool if you have enough patience.

Do an E-bay search for "first surface mirror" to find more.

Laserglow (above) was complaining about the mirrors that he had purchased that were only 80% reflective. Thus the e-bay post.
