Default Make a "cheap" blue-ray pointing module?

If you could find one, could you disect a PS3 , snag that purdy 405nm violet diode , and slap it on a "pointer" module board, put it into a pointer tube and have a "cheap" blue-ray module? In theory of course?

Aren't those still $800 to $1000? Would the "pointer" driver board be enough to run that diode?

    Yes , pretty-much so..just a few value adjustments and
rip out the crystals ..get a new lens and yes..it should work

Someone will do it just for fun

Couldn't you use a red pointer and there'd be no crystals... I may not be that great with electronics, but I might start posting, "WTB dead PS3s"... Maybe, depending on what power these are, try and make a projector, very low power, that has more than 3 lasers... 405, 473, 488, 514, 532, 594, 632/635, 650, and 671... Isn't there a low 700 that we can "almost" see, or some can?

Maybe 20mW on the extremes, 15, 10, and 5 for green. What would those 9 shades give you with TTL? :? It may be hard to find a way to blank them correctly... Hmmm, need to put the crack down huh?

No ..not really...I wouldn't chance expensive diodes to that torture.

Well...Spec came down this weekend and helped Max and I build our first violet/purple/blue...
more like a UV laser as it really lite up fluorecent on some objects like glow it the dark

so we will call it a blacklight laser for now!!
It was a fun weekend discovering another neat laser

    So here it is..
Before .. as it looked to the camera ..It looks blue but it is not.

About how it looked to the eye

About 30mW out of this one ..the lens wasn't the best but worked out for our experiment

As you can see it looked blue to the camera so we had to touch them up a bit to look more like the color it really was
thats Spec in the last pix

    These are 405nm diodes
    They are expensive little critters
30mW of power at just a little above threshold..we didnt want to push them yet
    so we stopped at 30.

No idea on the price ..the diodes are not cheap.
    But we will consider offers!!!
This is just the first unit ..TTL as of now
