NRG are a safe bet, never had a problem with them plus everything is tested UK end.Even their budget 20k's seem better quality than others I've seen.Gershy in Manchester (in my experience) is a straight up guy.I've got 2 of the older 750 rgb's as satellites.I seem to remember paying under 1k each complete with fb3.Both nearly 2 years old, done 400 hours plus of public shows and never let me down.Would recommend them.
    Hope this helps

    Default Goldenstar lasers or NRG.

    Hi White Light,

I'm looking for a 445nm laser module of about 1000mW for use in my lasershow projector.

I found that a chinese manufacturer called CNI would be worth a look, & also the distributor Goldenstar lasers. They sell a suitable laser for £121.

But whilst searching on Photonlexicon, I found your post mentioning a UK firm called NRG. I would prefer to buy without having to import anything!

PLease can you tell me how I could contact them/get a quote etc. I googled NRG & found a firm called 'Laser Know How'.

    Many thanks,

    Simon B.

    Hi Simon,

I think it's the same company but if so they seem to import and sell other brands now.

At one time NRG were NRG. I don't know now if that's still the case. There's always a danger at the cheaper end that you might get a re-badged Laserworld or something like that, so proceed with caution.

I believe Andy Con on here works for NRG, so why not PM him as he may be able to give you more information about the cheaper end and maybe make some model suggestions if they still are UK made.

Alternatively, there are a lot of satisfied people on here with Goldenstar. You do get what you pay for, but Goldenstar's low end stuff seems to be quite good within the limitations of what it is.

I think in the UK, Norty on here has a few Goldenstar lasers, so might be worth hitting him up on Pm as well.

    Hope this helps.

I'll second the recommendation on Goldenstar, though keep in mind this is only the second laser I've ever owned (let's just say it's an extremely drastic step up from the Spencer Laser unit you cna buy at your local hot topic oriented mall, lol). The brightness on those things is unreal too, and for around $350, it's a machine that I still use to this day... And those are upgradeable, so if you find you have some money down the road, you can upgrade scanners, etc... (though I would spend the extra money and get at least 30k... I wish I had)...

O yeah and I might add, the original laser I had is no longer being sold by Goldenstar. Still, from what I've seen in the Disco RGB series, they have an entry level model for $350 (before shipping). Do yourself a HUGE favor and spend the extra $70 to get the 30k scanners... Some of these models might not have SD card support (mine did NOT), but you can always ask if they can add it... Mine was added to the unit at no extra charge...

Of course, this is all assuming you haven't bought a new laser yet. I saw where your post was a few months old...
