    Default Laser Ray Gun

I was surfing for lasers when I came over this article.
    http://amazing1.com/burning-lasers.htm Laser Ray Gun
Output is 1 to 3 joules at a 500 usec pulse width equating out to a 6000 watt pulse! This is sufficient to blast small holes in the hardest of metals once the beam is properly focused.

    Nice site I must say!

There was a similar project in an old book that I bought back in the early 80's. The book was titled, "Build Your Own Laser, Phaser, Ion Ray Gun and Other Working Space Age Projects". (I think it's still available, and in fact, I believe it's published by the same company - Information Unlimited...) It was full of breathless descriptions of all the cool things you could do with it, but no real data as to how many shots you could get from the battery pack (my guess is, not many) or how much real damage you could do. (Probably not much with only a few joules of output.)

Anyway, I feel certain that the thing will work, assuming you assemble it correctly. As to how practical it is - well, that's another matter entirely. Plus the components aren't exactly cheap!
