$600 new from CNI, or from a Chinese lighting company?

I can guarantee there is a huge difference in the product between the 2!!!

And the quality is completely different!

You have experienced this first hand with your fan issues if I'm not mistaken Adam!

CNI seem to do much better deals to their home market distributors than foreign ones.
£550 should get you a 1.5W MGL-H 532 to the UK, with just the duty to pay. Sucks, but thats the reality of it unfortunately.

What are the differences between the Chinese Lighting firms and the CNI heads Dave?
I know we had some discussions over the differences in pricing earlier this year and how the distributor prices vary so much.

edit: sorry, post overlap dave. yes, I had a head where the fan centre boss had come adrift from the main fan surround. However, I've no other experience of CNI heads from other sources, so can't compare really. What I can say is that quantity for quantity, the CNI heads I've had, have been more consistent and stable than the Laserwave greens I've owned. That may change in time however.

Perhaps if you purchase from CNI directly you will understand. You wont get issues with fans that fall apart

CNI have and have always had 2 model versions. A version for the Chinese market, and a export version. The Chinese lasers rarely have IR filters, they are more unstable, etc

At least buying direct from CNI, you know exactly what you are getting in terms of power ratings too..

I will say that I checked all of my heads with a dichro to test for IR filters, and they all had filters fitted. Equally, they all overperformed (some significantly so) their stated power ratings, and I managed to find 2 pairs out of 6 with similar power and modulation characteristics (albeit in a reasonably unscientific way of testing, but enough for my purposes). That said, they do state that the cheaper heads may be more unstable, although I'm yet to see that in practise so far. Never say never though...

So, in summary - you can get CNI heads cheaper, but they are likely not the same spec as the one Andy has for sale, even though they share the same model designation. they don't make this stuff easy for us, do they??
