    Default Replacing scanner mirrors

So I was thinking of replacing the 5mm mirrors on my DT30 scanners with 7mm. I noticed that I loose 40% of my 445nm with the 5mm mirrors. So my question is, do the scanners need to be retuned for the bigger mirrors?

    thanks

Most likely yes. They may not be able to handle the weight of the larger mirrors at 30KPPS and the damping will need to counteract the additional inertia.

is that the "5mm beam" mirrors or the mirrors that actually measure 5mm. I doubt you can fit anything larger than the "5mm beam" (7mm size) mirrors.

Before you replace the mirrors could you describe the size of the other beams in your set up? I bring this up because your statement suggests that the 445's have been colimnated with O like lenses which produce aprox 4.5mm high stripes. If they are the only problem then the divergence of these lasers in that axis is so low that you could easily reduce this to 2.25mm with a cylinder pair, still have a tighter beam in this same axis and avoid all the work, tuning and loss of speed that a mirror change would require.

are you sure the loss is due to mirror size and not mirror coating quality?

Thanks for the info guys. I do have corrective optics on the blue, looks like I'll just adjust the beam to fit the scanners with those.
