Ok here is an update. I have one source of dichro stock in hand. It is not the custom run. That is coming. Thus I am progessing to machine the mounts and all so you will see pictures very soon. At the moment it is a paper towl roll with slits.
Here is a little info on the diodes. I am using the osram 450PLb 80mw diodes and the mits 110mw didoes along with the osram green diodes. All diodes are single mode. At a 100 feet the beam on all of them using standard axis lenes is about 1 cm. They overlap real well. Now here is part you want to know. Do they all modulate cleanly......It depends on the driver. I used a 200.00 driver from a company called team wavelenght and they indeed do modulate on and off matched just like pcaom. Using the P3 there is a little capacitance issue of some kind so that they don't act together perfect. I think this could an adjustment of the middle secret function pot. Andrew explained it to me once as like a balance bridge but I don't remember the details. I then tried the badpip driver. This driver was the same as the P3 driver but was a little less stable. IE it kind of changes based on temperature of the driver. Obviously the shorter the leads the better it works. Here is good news. If you use the DZ/Stanwax color board they can all be made to turn off and on together so the day is saved. Thus the effort to acheive a pcaom quality image is possible with this arrangement.
Stay tuned. After the holiday I hit the metal shop and drill some holes. I'm shooting for a source under 4"x4"x1" with 2 db 25's and a power connector. One db25 will take the color and the second will pass the scanner signal on. This little box gets side mounted and fires direct onto the scanner mirrors. So when I want high power I got that and when I want high quality I got that as well will very little rearranging. Planning on staying with the P3 drivers for now. I just trust them more wit hthe green diode since they have more protection built in.
