    Default Fast phototransistor recommendations for power controlled laser diode driver.

    I’m doing some experimenting/developing of an MCU/PWM based power controlled laser diode driver. So I’m looking for an accurate, fast and stable phototransistor with high sensitivity, capable of monitoring the laser diode output @ frequencies => 10kHz. I’m hoping to eliminate the need for an extra active colour correction with these drivers.
    Any recommendations before I start into the jungle of phototransistors?

    What kind of wavelengths are you planning on? Phototransistors usually have a fairly narrow wavelength response, which could get annoying if you're wanting to use the driver on different wavelengths.

    Well I’m planning on doing drivers for the typical RGB wavelengths, including DPSS but limited to green only on the DPSS side. I’ve looked around some today and it looks like I’ll be going towards photodiodes instead of phototransistors, phototransistors are too slow, at least the ones I’ve stumbled across so far.

    Join us to the question. I'm also looking for a photosensor to control power.
    It may be possible to use the sensor from the CD drive?
    Not every line is shorter than the curve.

    I've been using a reversed biased bpw34 on some applications.
    Cheap, fast, 3x3mm sensing surface.
    No problems whatsoever.

    A pd of a cdrom player is a quadrature, you might have some trouble hooking it up.
