But normally the Features of a Lasershowsoft are not interesting. There only need to be a LOAD and and a PLAY Button :-)

No problem with show programmers.
Exporting to ilda will do the job.
Only requirement would be able to set the playback fps in the software itself, if you can do that your fine.

I love and only use moncha, but its more of a creators software than a playback software.

Though, 40kpps is not enough? moncha.net devices do 40k if I remember right.

Also if you better describe the application we might be able to help you out a bit more!

with etherdream you can play ILDA files directly from SD card, you don't even need software for it, just control it by sending OSC packets via ethernet

If you are talking about getting a driver to work, then you are obviously talking about a specific device.

One of the great features of the LaserBoy DAC concept is that it is NOT A SPECIFIC DEVICE!

It is ANY sound card that can do at least 6, but preferably 8 channels. There are lots of them out there. Some of them are PCI some USB.

The idea works in all operating systems, and by the way, so does the LaserBoy application!

What makes it different than any other DAC out there is that it can play waves. Those waves might be directly generated in software like LaserBoy or made from trascriptions of ADAT tapes. The output of any laser DAC can be recorded with an ADAT or similar device, making an 8 channel sound card a universal laser control system.

Apparently, the designer of the EtherDream DAC saw the value of being able to play LaserBoy waves! ... (but no stereo sound)

If you do a bit of looking, you will find that ILDA has included a section in their own standards documents to describe the use of ADAT. That means that they understand the fact that laser signals, plus stereo audio, can be completely accurately represented by using a format of 8 channel, 16 bit, PCM digital (audio) recording.

The standard exists so that the best show designers can sell their work in a generic, uniform format. And they do!

An 8 channel LaserBoy DAC is EXACTLY EQUIVALENT to anything that could be recorded or reproduced by the ADAT standard that is described in the ILDA documentation.

You'd have to be completely insane to question the accuracy, integrity or ethics of ANY of the ILDA standards!
