    Default Hankscraft motor question

I'm not certain of the proper name of the part - "cam" perhaps but, I'm wondering where I can source the part you put on the shaft of a Hankscraft motor and epoxy a lumia wheel too. Are these something readily available or, have people made their own custom solution?

I asked about that at SELEM. Greg said you can get them at hobby stores that sell RC parts and that sort of thing. I think he might have some as well. It would be called a hub or something like that. It wouldn't be called a cam, though.

You can use a shaft coupler (too expensive grainger example) http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/LOV...YG5?Pid=search

Via Swamidog I have a 1/8 to 1/4" coupler on this so you can switch out wheels (all credit to swami on that)

For reference that is Magnum Steel Moldable epoxy it should be in your laser oh shit kit. as I forgot my other wheels and needed to mount the glass one ASAP (the ones from TEXLEM).

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

    Brad, all,

If you are looking for Hankscraft hubs, go to lynxmotion.com . You will need to order the 3mm hubs, but be prepared to drill these out with a drill press & 3mm bit. Also, you have to cap the hole when you glue the hub onto the wheel, otherwise you will fill the hub with whatever adhesive that you are using and will likely have to drill them out again before placing them on a motor.

You can also get 4mm and 6mm hubs from the same folks above, or you may want to try:

    robotshop.com

I've found that all of the gearmotors that I have used to date, are workable with the 3, 4, 5, or 6mm hubs.

    Good luck!

    Greg

Thanks all! (Yes, Chris... I know and admire the wheel and pully system. Maybe someday )

I'll be ordering some hubs shortly.

Sounds like an interesting proposition. I got to the screen where you click "buy" and decided to look at a few stores around here before paying $9 shipping for a tiny box with 6 hubs! What ever happened to first class mail?
