Default Recommendation for programmable laser show

    Hello laserguys.

I am new to this forum, therefore excuse me if I doing something wrong, and that the quality of my English is directly proportional to google translate. (Exaggerating (strange word) a little, but not much).

Some background: we selling every year in a small town christmas trees. When I browsing the internet, I accidentally found a cheap (read Chinese) laser show products. I got the idea that it would be nice to have some simple laser show at tree-selling. I mean something really simple, like showing an christmas tree and some text like: "on sale here" or soo.

As you might expect, from the sale of trees we will not become millionaires, ie I can't afford a professional solution, but the 150-200 EUR which is the price of a device I can sacrifice.

    Questions:
    - is such Chinese equipment even functional?
    - What is their lifetime and endurance? My idea is making the "show" between 16:00 to 20:00 (when dusk begins) - ie 4 hours a day for about three weeks. Will the device withstand this load?
    - Is it ever a good idea?

Thank you for your understanding and support.
Here are the devices about i'm talking: http://www.chinavasion.com/china/who...Laser_Gadgets/

Ps: I searched the forum for some "recommendation" posts, unfortunately not found much topic.

I understand that there is a lot of "professionals" for which such amateur laser show going in the market and not very likely happy to recommend such cheap products. But asking for leniency to my situation.

    Hi,

It's Chinese equipment so you need to have a bit of luck. Don't be disappointed when it doesn't work or suddenly stops working. You can't expect much for that kind of price. But it will probably work. Four hours a day for three weeks might work or it might not, but there isn't really a rule for how long they will last of course. Chinese projectors can last forever and high quality projectors can die after one day of use. No statistics are known to me, so it's up to you if you want to take the risk.

I'm not sure if it is a good idea though. Sure, the idea is nice, but where will you be projecting the images? Will it be dark? Is the projection surface light or dark coloured? The lasers from your website aren't really that powerful, and they will be washed out by the sun or any decent lighting system you put up. Indoors in a controlled environment where you could point other lights away from the wall you're projecting on will be fine, but if it's outdoors and the sun shines and there are lots of floodlights lighting up the place, the effect will be not very visible.

In order to program your own show, you need either the second or third projector, with an SD card slot. The software they include is probably not worth much, and you can find a lot of ilda files (including christmas trees) on the internet. And if you ask nicely, people on here can make them on demand (though that is not how things usually go over here).

Also, be warned that this hobby will suck you in it forever. I recommend going for a decent system right away :P

The 10K scanners are going to hold you back especially on something like text or a Christmas tree.

Check out this one. I have this. It has an sd card that comes with it and some software. The software scares virus protection software, but after some playing...you can create simple text and pictures (frames). I consider this a "toy" laser.
Most important IS SAFETY! No shining in sky or where eyes can get in beams!

    Hi Rodman,

For an exhibition event here in my hometown, I bought a similar laser / china made and it's been 12 hrs honestly that trying to succeed to draw text to be displayed on laser but no luck at all.
Software comes with the laser called Laser Controller is a crap in fact it does not working properly to convertt / create ild files.

What I request you either share the working software with me if you have one or please create a text laser show for me which is compatible with that cheap rgb laser. Text would be "ROBORIDE & INMAK" scrolling or just "ROBORIDE"

    Thanks in advance
