Best fonts?

This may be a daft question, but I have a few events where I do scrolling text projection and was wondering if anyone had found a preferred font to use?

Using either Moncha or Quickshow, I've noticed certain fonts project more "efficiently" than others (work better at lower scan speeds) and others just plain look better.

Efficiency is preferable, as I'd rather not tie up my nice 40K projector on these side shows, which are essentially just signs! And I do have a rather large pile of lesser projectors that could use a job!

Is that included with their software? The fonts folder in my Pangolin install was is empty, but the option to use "laser" fonts is offered in Quickshow. Wasn't sure what they were or where you get them from?

If you installed from the CD there should be fonts in there.

If you've subsequently downloaded an update and cut and pasted the .exe into the existing folder, the fonts will still be there.

If you downloaded and executed the .exe to install the latest version, then it re-creates the installation from scratch and the fonts not being included along with the quick shape pre-sets etc don't get created into the folders so the folders and thus content is empty.

If you have empty folders, install QS from the CD then copy the update .exe to where the qs.exe is and copy and replace. That will give you the latest version whilst leaving all the CD presets in place.

As you can tell, the way you update QS and Beyond is critical to leave some original content intact.

I think I have found the font folder on the original install, as mentioned above, it was lost in updating and reshuffling!

I will try them out later, thanks for your help!

No problem - the correct procedure for updating is;

1. Download the new zip file

2. Unpack it

3. Copy the new .exe to your clipboard

4. Navigate to the Beyond / QS folder where the existing program .exe is located

5. Click Paste and then select Paste and Replace when asked

What this does is overwrite the existing .exe whilst leaving all the content in the existing folders such as preferences or files included in the CD installation intact.

Do that and you shouldn't lose an existing content or settings.

The font is not an actual font but a font made in LD2000
you can make your own fonts though.
Which is drawing each character in a frameset (inside of LD2000) and LD2000 will utilise those drawings.
The thing about actual fonts is they always need to be connected with their starting point (no this is not done through blanking thats only for character spacing so this is less efficient).

The closest to an actual single line font is stick line font but it's not compatible with all software (it can show garbage)
Check out all the laser fonts included with LD2000 those are recommended for giving the best quality / pointcount ratio.
