    Default Projector pics

Adam visited me today to help me with some stuff on my projector. He brought his Pangolin PC with him and we ran somes shows afterwards. A blank spot was set in the middle to keep the camera from getting flashed. Pictures were taken at a rate of about one per second. You can view the album here. TheStonedWookie's albums - Imgur

I uploaded the full res(4752x3168) pics if anybody wants to use them for personal use such as a desktop wallpaper.

The projector has 2 blues, 1 green and 3 reds. Anything ~465nm and below shows up as violet. I'll have to mess with my cameras settings to see if that can be fixed. Everything else shows up almsot exactly how you would see it in person. You monitor settings will cause some variances. Here's some thumbnails just for a little preview.

    beautiful!

now how about some shots of the projector.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

I'll let James post about the specifics of the projector, as I'm not 100% sure of the power levels of each laser, but I'm pretty sure the total power is well over 1 watt.

As good as the pictures look, it's even more impressive in person. The output from this projector is absolutely stunning. The wide color palette really makes a difference! Also, the lasers are all closely matched, so the beams look great. As for the color balance, I did train a custom palette in Pangolin, but I didn't take my time with it (maybe 1 minute tops). Even so, the projector is pretty well balanced to start with, so the custom palette probably wasn't needed anyway.

This projector was assembled by MechEng3. James bought it at SELEM back in 2011. As posted above, it's got 3 different red wavelengths (660, 642, and 635, if I remember correctly), plus two blues (473 and 445). Modulation response is excellent. (Those of you who were at SELEM 2012 may have been lucky enough to see this projector running the "Linea" raster show that comes with Pangolin. It looks almost as good as a projector with a PCAOM!)

I really didn't do much to it. We tweaked the alignment a bit, and we flipped the polarity on the scanners and adjusted the Y scanner a bit to center it in the aperture window. After that, we just watched shows and took pictures. Great fun though. Watching this projector run is a real treat!

Thanks for the information Adam !
Oh you are the one who tuned this ptojector...
It really looks awesome ! great work ! superior color/beam quality.
Now i understand why he got so many colors. (palette)
    I have 2.5W445, 2W532 & 1.8W637 and that's nothing
    compared with this projector.
Now i have seen this, i wanna upgrade my projector in future.
with a little extra "dark" red & "light" blue.

I'll try to get some pictures of the projector itself soon. Been busy with some other stuff lately. All of the modules are custom. as far as I know and can tell. Not sure what the exact red wavelengths are.

I'm not sure where the post went. There was one about adding watermarks and stuff though. I've never done anything like that and am not quite sure how to. I do want to learn quite a bit about Adobe PS though. One of these days I'd like to find a class that teaches you about that SW. I also really didn't want to add them in case somebody wanted the picture on his desktop. I know I'm not a fan of seeing watermarks on my desktop background.

Something I forgot to mention. We ran the shows in my garage with a fog machine. Just imagine how it looked when I opened the door. Now imagine a cop driving by with all the fog rolling out. That and my neighbor across the street noticed it. He happens to be a correctional officer.
