Default Diffraction Gratings & Audiences - What's Allowed?

I've seen several concerts in the past couple of years for fairly large groups, playing in large venues (one seats 3,000, one seats 18,000). Both bands had diffraction grating bounce mirrors, where beams were targeted deep into the audience. For what it's worth, neither band was from the US.

I'm curious if anyone knows if using diffraction gratings for such an effect is allowed? No "audience scanning" involved - just diffraction gratings on bounce mirrors. I'm wondering if this is possible when the MPE guidelines are met?

It depends on your variance, slick rick has some experience on this subject.

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

That is a tricky situation... If you want to get into it, it's a costly endeavor. You can hire Roberta McHatton from Lasersafetyservices.com, and she can get it done for you... There is a lot of metering that is required but if that is what you really want to do, then SHE IS THE ONE WHO CAN GET IT DONE FOR YOU. I personally do not take advantage of that effect unless the client has A LOT of money to spend.
