Default Rent, Outdoor event Norway 2013

Hello! First, im new to the forum, hope i can get to know you guys!

I have been in contact with Kvant lasers, any experience with the company? ([url]http://lasershow.kvant.sk) What do you think about the price, and also does Kvant follow secure and basic regulations? The last think i want is to get eye damages at our event.

Also, if i should choose anybody else, what would be a cheap option for around the same price?

Appreciate all feedback! Sorry if its the wrong category, didnt find anything regarding renting.

    Thanks

    Hi Thaulow,

I see Kvant offers you a lot of laserhardware my friend!
What was the original question to them (garden party with some friends?)
    It's for 8 day's i see.
I'm not seeing any hotel costs, is he/she going to sleep in a car or????
What is the technician going to do, support or control the lasers?
Is this inclusive all the extra needed equipment, like lasersoftware/dac's/cables/computer?
Don't forget a descent smoke during the lasershow!

They have more then enough experience, but to give you a good feeling there a official member of the ILDA standard
By having this membership they agree they work like the safety rules which are described by the ILDA standard, so you may expect they work safe.
Just to know, they build there laser hardware there self, so they also should know all about it!

Maybe some could do it for less, but there are not as many company's who has enough hardware as offered like they did to you.
If someone could do it for less, you will get a PM i think.

    A couple of things...

It looks like a huge show. Also, you have a massive difference in powers of lasers (1.6W to 50W), which would lead me to think that you have some indoor and outdoor elements?
If you can provide a bit more info about what sort of event it is, and what you've asked them to provide, that would be useful.

I note that there is just 1 man to rig 32 projectors and move around 3/4 tonne of gear. And no rigging equipment listed.
I also note that shipping weight is 700kg total. Are they not going to need cables to run it as well?

It looks like the sort of quote that I'd do if someone casually contacted me and asked to price up a laser show, with not much detail of what was required.

I can hire a single Kvant Spectrum 1.6 locally for less than they charge with discount. You are hiring 32 of them, I'd be looking for a bit more discount personally. However, as I said above, I'd go in with full whack prices and see if they came back if I didn't have much idea that they'd be booking me.

Also, there doesn't seem to be any time/resource in there for programming material, so is this just a 'busked' show, or is it a pre-programmed show you're after?

Either way, its an awful lot of money and projectors for a 'do me a laser show' question.

One other small observation is that shipping OUT of Norway is prohibitvely expensive. I would ensure if you go with this deal that they're not going to hit you with another charge if they've grossly miscalculated the shipping costs.

I paid several hundred euro for just ONE Spectrum 1.6 to be shipped out of Norway and that was one of the least expensive quotes the seller and I had gotten.

    @norty303,
I think your not right about the price.
    It's a 8 day's event, that's what the offer says. (24, 26, 27, 30 april, 3,5, 10, 11 may)
€ 40,- a day isn't that much for a 1.6W kvant, not talking about the other offers (i think it's fair).

I have to agree about the powers, we can't say anything about that because we don't know your plans?

    Shipment is strange.
I had to ship one of my spectrums 1.6 to them and back.
It was cheaper for them to pick it up and send it back then when i had to send it and pick it up from them.

Maybe Thaulow could give us some extra info?

Sorry, my bad. I didn't do the sums, I just read it as a unit price per day.
I also note the dates are not consecutive, so there's downtime for the technician as well, and extra accommodation.

To be honest there are only a few companies capable of taking on a job of that size.
