    Laser shows are silly!

The laserscope is a fascinating piece of hardware. Here's my idea of a laser "show":

That thing sitting in room pumping out 10's of watts! I'll never get bored.

I think to most people as well, it's a lot more interesting than drawing pictures of "Zeus parting the clouds" on a wall.

Hmm... Sounds like it might be an idea on how to set the room on fire!

Yeah, beams are impressive - no doubt about it. But there is a place for gfx shows too. Sometimes it's fun to watch Zeus parting the clouds. (But I agree that 20-40 watts of green blasting around would be *damn* cool to see. Just don't know if I want it in MY living room... Too many things in there are flammable!)

It is curious, however, that the large majority of laser shows that I've seen have been beam shows. It can't just be because beams are easier to do... I think there is a basic preference for beams in the general public. That, or maybe people just don't have the attention span to watch a fully choreographed graphics show!

Well, it really depends on your point of view. Some people might find interesting to stare at a dot from a 1000watt laser. Some people might find interesting popping ballons at a distance with a laser. Some people find it interesting to make holograms. Yet other people find it amusing to draw zeus parting the clouds on a wall, or better yet, on the clouds themselves .

I mean no disrespect from my words, I just wanted to show that people will find different things interesting. That's why this world is so diverse. There are so many things to do, that somebody is bound to enjoy some of them, and dislike others.
Remember the future?, That'd today, as you imagined it yesterday.

    Default Laserscope 800

    Hi Lasersits
Today star up a laserscope model 804 that bought to DNA equipments, I am using the medical computer to avoid damaging my laserscope, cost a lot to transport USA to Ecuador. The computer is responsible for reviewing water level and the heating of KTP, I remove the optical fiber connector and made a bypassed device on PCB inside the optical. Laserscope is ready to operate, now I want to mount a pair scanners xy to end, I now have a number of questions, if I want to project graphics with scanners graphics are going to see interrupted because of q switch?
My lamp is 470 hours, should I change it?

I recently just converted a laserscope 700 & 800 series a few weeks ago, there is not much to it as everybody makes it seem. I think its generally to keep secrets and discourage people away from it. There is a lot to them for maintenance and alignment, very finiky to get started up and blow up crystals ;-) This is the reason some people use the onboard electronics to heat the KTP. Big, heavy and depending on your design needs water cooling or a chiller. I personallly would only use one for outdoor shows, very effective with fireworks.

I read this thread with a chuckle. When I (Laser Rays, Inc.) introduced the KTP YAG laser for entertainment in 1991 it revolutionized the laser light show industry. Keeping in mind that I owned 6 SP 171 ion lasers at the time, This product was a GODSEND. NO OTHER system can compare. Name one other piece of equipment that you can do beam alignments in broad daylight, shoot beams for 50 miles, and operates HANDS OFF on 220vac single phase at 40 amps AIR COOLED. IMHO you need to have at least one of these in your inventory for producing outdoor laser spectaculars 10 watts or even 20 watts cant come close.
