Default ILDA signal to Video Projector?

I seem to recall that sometime last year I ran across a company that could take Pangolin or ILDA signals and convert it to be used with video projectors. The cool thing was with a bright enough projector, you could scan the audience without any legal problems.

I can't seem to find their website and Google hasn't been much help.

    Ever heard of this?

    Cool

Pangolin's new Beyond software allows you to output laser frames to connected video projectors (like a DLP or LCD projector). This is most likely what you were thinking about.

The theory is that you mount the video projector just below the laser projector. Then you send the same output to both devices. (In Beyond, a video projector can be assigned to a projection zone just like a laser projector can, and you have the same controls over size, position, beam attentuation, and geometric correction on the video projector like you do with the laser projector.)

By adjusting the beam attenuation map correctly, you can make all the images that are in the audience-scanning area come from just the video projector (which is eye-safe), and all the rest of the images that are above the audience-scanning area come from the laser projector.

With a video projector that has sufficiently high contrast, the audience will never notice the difference.

Note that this is an exclusive feature to Pangolin, and only when you are using their new Beyond software. It's not some add-on device that you can use with any old controller. Also, it doesn't convert the ILDA output of the controller; rather, it simply routes the images to a video card instead of to the ILDA output on the controller.

You will want to contact Pangolin directly for more information about Beyond and how to get it...

    Thanks!

However, the product I was talking about was something I saw two years ago from a company I believe was in Europe. I am a newbie in terms of technical stuff, so maybe it wasn't directly converting ILDA signals to video. It was definitely a third party though.

But that is great information about Beyond.

    Thanks again,

For years, some English laser show company has been selling an advanced, ILDA file to Video in realtime program for doing audience scanning with music sync.

I just can't find the website right now...

It's really clever with colours and backgrounds ( you don't get that grey/black background that plagues vga)
Search Clive on the forum as he designed it and could give you a rundown, top bloke and a bit of a genius.

These is a piece of hardware used for old vector arcade games that buffers the X/Y output from the Tempest (and other vector game) boards and drives a VGA monitor. The problem you might run into is color data.
