    Default Old Diode Laser

Here's the latest in my "Old Laser" series, the c1974 International Laser Systems model PL-100 GaAs laser. This pulsed diode laser was introduced just a year before GaAs was made to work continuously at room temperature, so it represents to me the end of an era for that type. Bummed that it's missing a knob. Gas lasers are sexier!

Looks nice for the Age. Measure knob and I will keep an eye out...we have LOTS of old junk at USF with knobs... Phil

    PS Does it still work?

That is quite a nice laser, any idea what wavelength it runs at? 1um? 1.5um? At least it doesn't require cryo cooling

Don't know if it's operational because I don't have the cable to connect the head to the power supply. Didn't jot down the specifications from the ad I found for it when at the library, in Laser Focus of February 1974, page 8. By the way, if anyone has Laser Focus magazines from the '70s and would like to get rid of them, please let me know!
