I second that. I just used a very high quality 3 watt RGB at a 3600 sq ft venue this past weekend. I had to compete with 8 clay paky sharpys, two insanely bright wash yokes that seemed to have chunks of sunlight as light sources, and a whole crap-ton of wash lights with 3 watt LEDs that, except for about 45 minutes when the LD turned off all the lights for one dj's set, he kept at full blast (entire last hour it was all fixtures on and all white!!!). I was wishing for at least another watt even before he decided to white out the room.

A good LD should cut you some slack and use black out or at least some muted colours off his palette,if not tell him! Sitting on both sides of the fence (Ld and an op) I know thimpact washes and blinders can have on lasers. One site has a permanent wing where I'll operate the blackout when needed (and also master intensity) just because the "theatre trained" Ld wouldn't play ball.Spec it on your rider or quote as if a promoter/club owner has booked a laser show-that's what they want!

^^ Agreed. This is also why you really need to situate yourself at front of house with the LD so you can co-ordinate what you are doing (speaking as lighting and laser man too).

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

Mimi, can you supply projectors using those cases without Moncha included?

Usually I do sit by the LD or it's me running the entire show, myself. But I wasn't able to be anywhere near him this time. Regardless, he was pretty aware of what was going on until whatever chemical kicked in and he decided he wanted the room on "my lights are brighter than house lights" mode. I suppose even having 6 watts wouldn't have made much difference in the face of all that other gear at that point.

ClearBlu: A rider is a great idea! I am going to incorporate that for sure!

Those Able rigs are pretty solid, usually use the higher spec'd CNI heads, with a hefty baseplate and two level sealed optic design. That rig is a touch heavier than a similar sized Kvant. They produce high quality compared to majority of Chinese lasers, with support and service to back it up. A world leading laser show design/control company (no points for guessing), used Able for the Beijing PALM expo this year.

Personally would go with FB3QS bundled.

    Best of luck.

Just a thought. Canton laser photo have a novel optic mount. This suits non sealed enclosures . As I haven't used my new laser much (for safety reasons) I haven't had to clean them. I think that I will be able to take the top off the box and simply wipe the optic. Perhaps with out leaving a water mark?

    Hi,

Yes, we also have new case without Monch.net. I attach photos, you can have a look. The case size is:28*25*20cm, I think it is around 10KG, we designed it in OEM 5W green and 2.5W RGB with OEM version.

I ordered 10pcs Monch.net last week, and it came back yesterday, we are testing.

Any questions, please feel free to contact me or Winni.

    Best regards

I have a Scanner from China. Just keep in mind prior to buying and spending a ton of money... A) warranty, they can promise the world and never respond to emails. B)shipping the scanner back maybe worth more than the scanner itself C) there power output and scanner ratings/specs can be a little "glorified", not always accurate. D)you have no grounds on proving them wrong E) YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, there is a reason why its 50% cheaper QUALITY standards are low or none at all. China can produce many things quick, cheap and bulk.... however, focus is lost on quality and life span. Something needs to bend/give to keep costs down. Said that, I am happy with my scanner... it is what it is.

As a general rule, I agree that you do get what you pay for. And yes, we've all heard about people buying something from China that was too cheap to be true, and sure enough, in the end they got something other than what they wanted.

However, I can personally vouch for Mimi and Wini over at Goldenstarlaser.com. They are good, honest people, and the cases and projectors they sell offer exceptional value. If you buy a cheap projector, you'll get a cheap projector, but if you spend a little more, and pay attention to things like which lasers you specify, and which galvos you specify, you will get exactly what you wanted - at a price that may surprise you.

Other people here have talked highly about Goldenstarlaser in the past, and I have to admit I was skeptical at first. But after I had a chance to see their projectors at SELEM, I got curious. I've been talking back and fourth with Mimi for several months now, and I just recently placed an order for some more components from Goldenstarlaser.

Here is something I received from them a few months ago.. Have a look:

Not exactly your standard projector case, right? And the flight case that it's sitting on came with it. It's a very nice package, with custom foam inside to cushion the projector case. I should also point out that this case arrived on my doorstep just 4 days after it left Mimi's shop.

This is a bare projector case. Inside, it's totally empty apart from the bare optical deck. The fans are pre-wired, but there isn't any power supply inside to plug them in to. Likewise, there is an ILDA break-out board, but nothing else. The DMX and IEC power connectors terminate inside, making it easy for anyone to wire up whatever hardware they want to use, but nothing is connected. It's all up to you. Perfect for someone like me who wants to build their own projector but doesn't want to have to build the case as well!

Anyway, I was so pleased with it I decided to order a second one. I'm also buying a few lasers from them. With luck, I'll be receiving them early next week, so I'll have another set of pictures to share.

But yeah, if they could make a believer out of me, you can bet they'll deliver on your orders too. And they sell a wide range of products, from bargain-priced starter systems like the S-RGB200 up to powerhouse systems like the H-RGB15000. So if you are thinking about buying a projector (or even just a bare case for a do-it-yourself build, like Norty was asking about), give them a look and see if they have what you are looking for. I think you'll be pleased with what you find. I know I have been!

    Adam
