suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
3 watts going in.... 2mW coming out! LOL

I don't know. I see scotch tape in use and no washers on any of those bases. Also, the bases aren't all squared to the hole pattern.
Mixedgas would spread that across two tables, or use a "L" shaped table, and find a way to get rid of 1/3rd of the mounts. I have a enought hard time with ~100 optics in one system, one laser has 9 internal mirrors, the next has 9 internal mirrors, the next has 32 internal mirrors and some adjustable crystal and grating mounts. etc. Then there are the adjustable delay lines. Mental note, count number of degrees of freedom on optical table at work tomorrow.
That is just mad. You can't reach half of it, and compensating for weekly drift must be time consuming. Bump one optic and your toast till you run diagnostics. I hope they have some active mounts with beam centering. I also do not see much in the way of diagnostic hardware....
I also do not see the re-alignment irises that I liberally sprinkle on such tables. A hole on a stick can save so much time and money.
I had to attend a expensive class on how to align two of our lasers, it was so counter-intuitive.
Would some one send me a link to the project? I keep seeing the pic on forums but no description!
Mixedgas defered punishing the miscreants who borrowed four mirrors and four mounts off his table, without asking. Its going to take me a full day to re-align the seed lasers, they picked the first ones in the chain between the master seed laser and the regenerative amplifier. They waited til a day I was not there, and grabbed em for a HENE based thing. That re-alignment is tomorrow's project.
"But they are simple silvered mirrors", said the Miscreant. Those mirrors were dispersion corrected for the femtosecond time domain. If they got mixed in with the normal mirrors, my life would have been very difficult till I found out what had happened.
Mixedgas's boss was perhaps not so kind... I don't know the details of the conversation, but I suspect it was along the lines of what the Brit military calls, "A visit to the Office with Hat, without Tea and Biscuits"
*Biscuits = cookies, so I'm told..

My dreams are a lot like that. And all the wrenches don't fit either
