    That thing is pretty amazing...

I've seen a CO2 laser in operation here in Charleston, but they were cutting boards of pressed wood. (They used to use a CNC router table, but switched to the laser because it could cut fine details and tight corners.) It was very impressive to watch, but of course you couldn't see the beam.

Still, it sure would be cool to have one of those to play with! (I can envision using it to light fireworks remotely via laser...)

I tell you what, why don't you let the cat handle the laser?. I'd like to see you runing after the beam  . Or would it be running away from it?

In either case, I believe the laser is invisible (as in out of the visible part of the spectrum), so it wouldn't be a good toy after all, unless we lived in the simpson's world . Itchy & Scratchy any one?
Remember the future?, That'd today, as you imagined it yesterday.

I was just BSin... I've played with my cat once or twice but his heartrate gets TOO high and I worry. He also seems to "see" the spot for several hours afterwards and keeps looking around for it. I don't have anything that is powered low enough for that either, not since my atlasnova died.

I love that video! Amazing to think of the geometric calculations that go into each movement... Just placement alone on that rectangular extrusion is just awe inspiring, especially around the turns.

Heres my "hat-toss". One of my all time favorites: 4kW Co2, "flying optics" as they call it.

When I have free time I try to think of the translation system above it. Crazy optics.

It is rather mesmerizing... Is there any way to do that with a visible laser?
