Default Need Replacement Diodes for Maxyz! Also, possibly flexmods, some 532, some blue...

Hey guys, Long time no banter.

I was hoping to return here regaling you guys with tales of the road and a description of my new build. A friend of mine got me a 24X24 beamtable for christmas, so I've been rebuilding my projector. Got it all done, wired, pretty. Fired it up... and WAAAY down on power.

The maxyz's are shot for sure, I'm worried the green and blue are as well, as it seems like a sub-200mw projector at present (140mw blue, 400mw green).

Tearing my hair out at the moment, and trying to decide between starting over or just chucking it all in the bin.

Anyway, for the time being I'm sticking with rebuilding. SO, does anybody remember the diodes used in the 225mw maxy modules? and, more importantly, where I can get ahold of a few?

Also, do the Opnext HL63133DG diodes fit in the maxy's? does anybody know if they'll work with the drivers? If so I might just get two of those and upgrade.

IIRC, the driver inside the maxys wasn't really that great

My suggestion would be to replace the diodes and run an external driver such as the badpip driver - then you get a added bonus of beam suppression.

At a bare minimum, you should be able to drop a LOC diode in and do nothing more, but be prepared for a suprise in the form of a rats nest driver when you open the laser up....

well, I was hoping for a drop in solution on the off chance I could get this up and running by the 28th. I'm thinking that I might just hit up thrift stores for some cd burners. I ordered two flexmods from Dr. Lava (I've got a couple 445's kicking around, so no biggie if the blue dies), but who knows when the next stock of those will be in. thinking I'm going to scrap the maxyz's altogether, as once I have new drivers and diodes, I'm halfway to building a new laser. Besides, that way I can put lasorbs on the diodes.

    Mr.Coffee,

I think I have some red LOC sleds in my box of stuff that I never got around to using if you can't find anything I can check and see what I have.

    Adam,

That would be INCREDIBLE! I've been looking around, but it seems that, short of building an entirely new red source, I'm close to SOL (I was actually planning a trip to the thrift store tomorrow to see if I could find burners that would work). I have parts in trade if you're interested. and some cash, too.

Andrew told me last week that it will be a few months before he gets the flexmods back in stock as he is currently working on a new revision. I took the Badpip route as an alternative for now.

yeah, I ordered two. mainly for the blue source down the road.

I saw the Badpip, but i don't need four channels, and it's pricey.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

    Just an update,

Sugeek has plucked my lifeless corpse out of the icy non-laser having waters, after the iceberg of static sunk my projector.
    He sent me a LOC-containing sled, lasorb AND a MF$#%$ P3!

A feat of such amazing awesomeness cannot go unnoticed. So I had to give Adam a proper shout out.
On my honor, next time we meet, your next several whatevers are on me.
