One thought: It's been my experience that a patient and knowledgeable craftsman can do excellent work with average tools, but a beginner may find it very difficult to produce results he is proud of with bargain-basement tools. Whatever your value equation, be sure to factor in your own skill level and patience/dedication factors. How much time can you spend learning how to accommodate the foibles of a super-cheap machine vs. making meaningful progress on your swarf pile and project list before you just give it all up?Originally Posted by kovacika
