By the time that RGB Laser TV's are going for $99.95 @ Wallmart you will probably replace gun powder based pistols with Phaser pistols which will give a whole new meaning to drive by shootings !....

Closer to reality Novalux should have RGB tv's out by Xmas 2007.

    Have a good one.

looks a little suss to me really... when I first saw the pic I thought to myself, wow, they just set up some funky laser setup behind a plasma tv....

Then I looked a little closer...

That looks suspicously like... a commercial plasma tv to me...

    no no that's a DLP

see instead of using a huge lamp and a color wheel they are using an unfocused laser as back lighting.

they just gutted an DLP rear projection tv and put a RGB laser source behind it.. The color would be so vibrant.

lol, my buddy at coherent was telling me about this, he wasn't sure if it would go anywhere he said that they weren't planning on building the units, i guess now they don't have too..

He did say that the colors were out of this world. If i understood him correctly (i usually don't ) it is easy to fine tune the wavelength so they can optimize the lasing wavelengths to get the perfect rgb color balance for a tv.

All of this laser tv stuff is great news for us. RGB is going to just get cheaper and cheaper as time goes on.

I guess my next sony is going to have a key switch, interlocks, warning indicator, accession number, a 15 second delay, and a class 4 warning sticker !!

    Can't wait!

Don't forget that you won't be able to operate it within 10 miles of an airport
