    Default Kvant Bazzar Deals

I was just looking on the Kvant Bazzar webpage and see there are a few ~1 watt RGB projectors. They seem to be at a pretty decent price (~1300 Euro's) considering you'll be getting Kvant build quality. Maybe a good starter projector for someone not confident enough to start from scratch, possibly easily upgradable also. Looks to me as though Kvant are starting down the diode only route and dumping lower power DPSS...

    Cheers

I'd advise anyone serious about alignment to avoid projectors using the Kvant combined blue / red modules as I'm less than impressed with mine.

There are no correction optics in the red which leaves a fat beam red as the 4 diodes don't combine until outside of the projector so you have 4 separate red beams in the form of a square whilst inside of the projector. I have red bleed running through my white fans and I'm sure its the result of some of the red missing the scanners as I can see reflection off the internal edge of the scanner mirrors where its just a little too close too the edge and also possibly off the mirror spindles, and also red / green possibly passing through the scanner mirrors which don't seem 100% reflective and bouncing off the back of the scanner block. Hvaing looked at everything, I'm sure this is the source of the bleed. Probably larger mirrors and 100% reflective mirrors would cure it but its not really an option on 30k scanners due the the speed implications.

Also the blue section of the module doesn't have a proper alignment mount inside the module, just a brass mount on a very tight screw that can be forcibly pushed forwards or backwards to align the beam - trouble is this kind of movement isn't precise as it takes extreme force to move it, and inevitably any movement is a jerk as friction is broken, so precise alignment seems all but nigh on impossible especially as moving it in one plane throws the other out with this method.

What I feel it really needs is a proper combined red with correction optics a la Edison to give a tight red beam internally, and a Thor labs style adjustable mount for the blue combining cube.

I'm sure the separate red and blue modules don't have these restrictions, but the combined unit does.

Just my advise to anyone lookign for a projector, if you're fussy or serious about your lasers, consider the models with totaly separate modules.

the alignment on my kvant red (quad 642) is pretty good and i have have no problems hitting my dt40w mirrors with it, but the modulation is not very linear.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Interesting Al. Have to confess I didn't really look closely at the spec's. perhaps not as good a deal as it first appeared

I don't think there's any issue with discreet modules. Its the red / blue in 1 unit thats possibly a little handicapped in adjustment / internal beam profile.

I think Jem most of the projectors you have linked to do have discreet modules. Its onl the combined module I'm not too impressed with. Probably just venting a little but having red through the white fans upsets me a little as a perfectionist, espeically when I think of the potential cost of these units. Not something I would have expected. Then again, like I say its only the combined R/B unit that suffers I think.

Yeah in the all in one R/B unit the cube that combines red and blue is on a type of flex mount.

did they knife edge the red/blue or use a dichro?

that's too bad. no wonder there are issues spilling off the galvo mirrors.
