the alignment on my kvant red (quad 642) is pretty good and i have have no problems hitting my dt40w mirrors with it, but the modulation is not very linear.

There are no correction optics in the red which leaves a fat beam red as the 4 diodes don't combine until outside of the projector so you have 4 separate red beams in the form of a square whilst inside of the projector. I have red bleed running through my white fans and I'm sure its the result of some of the red missing the scanners as I can see reflection off the internal edge of the scanner mirrors where its just a little too close too the edge and also possibly off the mirror spindles, and also red / green possibly passing through the scanner mirrors which don't seem 100% reflective and bouncing off the back of the scanner block. Hvaing looked at everything, I'm sure this is the source of the bleed. Probably larger mirrors and 100% reflective mirrors would cure it but its not really an option on 30k scanners due the the speed implications.
Also the blue section of the module doesn't have a proper alignment mount inside the module, just a brass mount on a very tight screw that can be forcibly pushed forwards or backwards to align the beam - trouble is this kind of movement isn't precise as it takes extreme force to move it, and inevitably any movement is a jerk as friction is broken, so precise alignment seems all but nigh on impossible especially as moving it in one plane throws the other out with this method.
What I feel it really needs is a proper combined red with correction optics a la Edison to give a tight red beam internally, and a Thor labs style adjustable mount for the blue combining cube.
I'm sure the separate red and blue modules don't have ths problem, but the combined unit does due to cost savings.
Just my advise to anyone lookign for a projector, if you're fussy or serious about your lasers, consider the models with totaly separate modules.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
