I'm sure that is what is done, arbitrary was my description not Pangolin's
Yes, I'm fairly sure they use decent techniques to set release dates, and I know how project scope and specification changes can lead to creep on the deliverables.

Why do you think they're arbitrary Al? Or was it just an inappropriate choice of word?

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

Really Norty looking for argument is tiresome is it not?

Anyway, just to be clear, any date that cannot be 100% definite is arbitrary in my book, no matter how carefully its chosen.

A release date can never be definite nor should it ever be, otherwise in development fields in many instances compromises are made to meet the date.

I'm also not a fan of release dates.
I'd rather have a structured process that accounts for as many variables as possible.
