    Default Italian Themed Show

O.k., so..... my boss comes to me today and says, "You know we're having an Italian Night at Lazaretto Ballroom (one of our other halls) next month. We were kind of thinking about having you come up and do some sort of one of your light show things for it. You know... like that lips thing with the lasers or whatever. There's going to be about 170 people." (Um... the owners are clearly not sophisticated in the world of lasers!) Naturally being the dutiful employee I replied. "Yes, of course I can do that."

As backstory, I work for an Italian family catering business and this is a ticketed, open to the public, dinner/dancing couples type event (although we'll know most of the guests). It's not really Valentines Day related since it's Feb 23rd.

Now the reality of what I just agreed to is setting in. I need a suggestion on something of a graphics nature to play on the wall with an Italian theme. The ceilings are two low for beams so, I'm going to have to do something on the wall with probably a fairly short throw. I have a host of software packages - LD2000, Quickshow, Phoenix 4+, LSX, Spaghetti (how fitting), and can run ADAT/HD24 stuff. Any suggestions of a show to run for something like this? I'm going to start going through my catalog of content tonight but, thought I'd throw it out there in case I'm missing an obvious choice.

    Thanks!

I'm sure it wouldn't be to hard to get some pics of Italian-themed landmarks to play to Italian music...Leaning Tower of Pisa, Famous Italian statues...Venus, David, cherubs? Gondolas, Romance with hearts , I know I've seen a Coliseum out there somewherez...Soccer!
    Just thinking...

It's hard enough to find some laser frame "typical" of Italy. Me too have just two-three frames....
As all people know, Italy is famous for (example) the beauty of its territory: sea, islands, high mountains, lakes, cities... (It's called "il bel Paese" - the "beautiful Country"). Maybe you can try to create some frames about this "beauties" of Italy.
Italy is not just pizza, spaghetti, mafia, Colosseum, Pisa's tower, soccer game.....
More than 80% of world's artistic and monumental heritage is in Italy.
    Anyway...
    Suggestions for soundtrack:
    - "Caruso" sung by Lucio Dalla.
    - "Nessun dorma" ("None shall sleep") aria from final act of "Turandot" opera by Giacomo Puccini (the famous song which says: "Vincerņ!").

Here is my small personal tribute for your show:
A very short animation about Mr. Cristiforo Colombo, the man who discovered America.
    Hope it will be useful.

Good luck for your "Italian" show

    Hi there
I, in no way, wished to suggest that Italy's beauty be confined to Pizza (though I DO like Pizza Thank you very much!)
I was just trying to think of some universally recognized items which people at a show in America would instantly recognize.
I've been to Italia on a few occasions and I just can't see a laser frame a few seconds in duration showing the lakes or mountains being instantly recognized. I can't see anyone capturing the Beauty of your country in red, green and blue.
(and the music you suggested: Bellissima!) I would suggest...Laser frames to show the "recognized" landmarks...and a video slideshow to show what Steve is rightly speaking of.

Thanks guys! Steve - I was hoping you'd check in. Honestly, I haven't had time since I posted the OP to look through my stuff. It seems to me there were one or two Bocelli songs done in LSX but they may be beams shows. I'm hoping to give this some time on Sunday. I'm probbaly not going the video route as the built in projector at that hall is utter crap. They really got ripped off by the company that installed their AV system up there and I don't feel like dragging mine along.
It's not Italian themed but, this is sort of a couples thing so, if nothing else, I think they'd go for the "go to" show, Recipe for Love.

    Sire -

Have you got the full Pango library? I'd think you should, between your LD2K and Beyond-pak, ya? Well, search for a show called "Europe" - absolutely *exquisite* animations / beam-brush werk, of several of the 'EU' countries, on a 3D fly-thru 'tour', and 'stopping' in each, to highlight some of the more well known 'landmarks' (ie: Eiffel en Parī, Roman Coli, Big Ben in Londo, etc.. ) -

Anyhoo, the Italy-segment has LOTS of really-great 'legacy-Italian' landmarks and stuff - Pisa, Venician-gondolas, the Coli in Rome, etc, etc - really, really nice / elegant stuff.. What you can do, is either in Beyond, (or using Live! with the LD2K-suite..) is isolate just those 'Italy-segments', and slow-down / space-out for your shows' timing, etc.. You can also 'pepper-in' some goodies from some of the 'other-countries' segments, that are not 'hardcore countrycentric' (ie: a wine / cheese-scene, etc..) and give you some more fodder / time..

Lemme know if I can help, further with this, prolly can at least accomplish-this, whilst recouping from this mongolian death-flu I've been blessed-with, this week.. >_< ugh..

    It is an QuickShow animation

"Columbus" animation is composed by different single short ILDA animations. I put all of them together and saved as ILDA file.

    I apologize...
I should have to post it as LDS or ILDA formats....

Here I go!... So you can choose which one you prefear

    Greetings!
