    Default Reinstalling Windows Help?

ok so the story goes the pc running the cnc died, motherboard issues. so i went and got a second hand desktop cheap.

so cheap is doesnt have a hard drive, so i took everything i needed off the hard drive in the dead pc and have put it into the new pc simple.

now the new pc cam with two cd drives a dvd rom and a lightscribe all in one jobby. in order to fit the old hard drive into the new pc i have to remove the dvd rom, so now only rhe lightscribe cd unit is in the pc.

ive gone into the setting on start up and seleted boot from cd drive but it wont actually boot from the cd drive. is this cos its a lightscribe unit? if i put the dvd rom unit in will that work cos i thought a windows install disk was a cd not a dvd??

    ahhhh help...

You will want to check the jumpers on the back of the dvd drive, if it on the same cable as the hardrive one will need to be set as master the other as slave the fact that your using a cd in a dvd drive wont matter it should still read it
But its somtimes better to use one cable for hardrive and a seperate one for the dvd and set both as master

Look at the drive where cable plugs in should be some pins with jumpers on , there sould also be a indication on how to set the jumpers for master and slave on to drive somewhere
It also makes a difference if using both drives on the same cable as to where they are plugged in ie,first or second device on the cable

Check to see if the BIOS is recognizing that you have a CD drive connected where you think you have it connected. If it doesn't show up in a list when you POST, go looking for the drive setting page in the BIOS and see if it shows up there. If it's not showing up at all, you have a cabling issue... sort it per badger.
