Just a bit of tapping info, for these diodes holders I just finished in total there were 100 holes to tap. The machine with tapping head did the lot in 15 mins although not all at once.

Now you try tapping 100 holes in 15 mins by hand

    Great work Andy!
I hope it is still enjoyable for you to do this after doing it for so long.
Some times for me it all becomes boring and I get sick of it.
Awww, pretty soon I will be doing lots of fishing instead, love the summertime!

i never get bored of lasers.

i get lots of satisfaction from machining all the parts then putting them together and seeing a finished product.

Con-herent....I also find machining to be of GREAT satisfaction....and I suspect/speculate....the same genitic code that is envolved with the appreciation of coherent and almost perfectly straight beams is expressed in our love of machining metal to our design ...with straight and true geometry....maybe ??? And...nice pics of the chips !!

    Nice work Andy.

Out of curiosity, have you any future plans to do any diode mounts for the likes of the 3.8mm 520nm Green diodes?
They may only be 50mW right now but you can bet higher powers will be along soon and the demand for multi diode 520nm Green heads won't be far behind.

Yeah I love machining when it's for your own parts and fun projects.

Tapping is my least favorite operation. A tapping head will even make that fun.

I'm going to bite the bullet and buy a nice one like yours. My current project will have a lot of tapped holes plus future jobs will make it worth it.

I'm impressed with how quickly you have ramped up your skills.

That's some great work to you are doing there Andy. Nothing like passion and hours dedicated to that passion to get results!

    Keep the pics coming.
