    Default International shipping

    Hey all,

Lately I've been restoring an old PPG music synth from the 80s and I have to ship parts of it to Austria
for repair and upgrade. What kind of paperwork is required for FedEx to ship and customs inspection.
Anybody have any experience with this stuff?

    Thanks,
    Mark

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

    Hey Mark -

What would you charge to overhaul an original, unmodified Moog / Realistic MG-1?

    Hey Randy,
I'm not exactly a synth technician and honestly the only reason I'm attempting my own repairs is because of the lack
of money I can justify for having it done for me. I have way too many interests to fund them all at the same time. With that being said, what's wrong with your MG1. The only work I've done on my PPG is the rebuilding the Pratt and Read keyboard.
There's rubber key stops that wear out and break down over time and since the entire keyboard has to be broken down to
replace them, it's a good opportunity to clean the buss bars and J-Wires. I was attempting to send the main circuit boards
to Virtual Music in Vienna, Austria for a major upgrade but, $750.00 round trip UPS/FedEx plus a $600.00 upgrade puts this
Project in jeopardy. I think for now, I'm going to order the new software ROMs and the rest will have to wait. I'll post some
    pictures soon.

My MG-1 is suffering from the deteriorating foam dust shield that the synth has became infamous for ~
The foam turns to "goop" over time, and winds up gumming up the linear pots and switches, and in general making a mess of the motherboard. It's a DIY project if the replacement parts are still available, but right now that's one of many on the list (I still have a 3W RGB I need to tackle!!).

Good luck with your synth overhaul project; I'd like to see and hear the results when it's finished!
Hmm, maybe we should have a synth mini-meet as a sidebar to SELEM!
