    Default Beyond Questions

    Hi All,

I'm trying to learn Beyond, and am having a couple of problems.

I'm trying to add an audio file to a Timeline. I can't find "Set Audio File" anywhere. Can someone point that out for me?

Also, anytime I click "Edit Animation" it says "Cannot edit animation because it contains abstract or DMX frames."

    What's up with that?

    Thanks for any advice,

    Tim

Add the audio to the av media track - its slightly different from QS. This non laser track can also contain video content so that the laser show can sync to video output
Some thinkg cant be edited as they are not laser frames in the traditional sense but rather a set of instructions or paramters that allows the program to creat the output - I hope that makes sense

If you need to ask the question 'whats so good about a laser' - you won't understand the answer.

    Hi Tim,

You'll see that, by default, there is a single A/V Media track on the timeline. You can add more if you'd like (actually an unlimited number). These A/V Media tracks may contain audio, video, bitmaps, and other forms of "media". Double-click in the timeline and it will allow you to choose any media file. Then drag it out for the length you would like.

Unlike QuickShow and Showtime, which offer only a single media file that runs for the entire length of the show, BEYOND offers you the ability to slice and dice media tracks, cross-fade between them, and do many other operations. Coincidentally, I did a quick video showing this while at Prolight, and we'll be uploading this to our YouTube channel soon.

Regarding your second question, I'm afraid I don't understand it, but I assume you were trying to assign something to a laser event which already had a different kind of information, and BEYOND was warning you of such. For example, in QS and BEYOND, if you right-click on an empty cue and say "Create new frames", it will gladly and instantly allow you to do so. But if you right-click on a cue that already has something different (like an abstract or capture) and say "Create new frames", it will warn you that you would replace the existing content with your proposed new content.

Tim this would be a great question for the Pangolin forum. If you would not mind re-posting your question there, we'll answer, and then anyone perusing the Pangolin forum will be able to benefit from your question and our answer.

    Hi Tim,

Thanks for the re-posted question. I see Bob has already answered.

By the way, you can see a video that demonstrates what I'm talking about here:
