I need that kinda playground.

Sorry to hear that dude. But no worries; we will simply move your stuff to Friday - if that works for you...
General Update:
With regard to the commercial kitchen in the cafeteria, just to let everyone know the final status on that: it's completely dead. They wanted $120 PER HOUR for us to be in there. No way we have the funds in the budget for that. So dinner will be out on the town every evening. And for the die-hards who can't stand to miss a single moment of SELEM, we can always order pizza to be delivered, or send someone out to a burger joint for a bag of heart-attacks. (Burgers and fries)
One other wrinkle that just cropped up yesterday: The school is planning to shoot their senior class pictures in the Cafeteria on Thursday up until 4 PM. Yeah, even though we've already reserved it and paid for it. (ARGH!!!!!) This is when we're supposed to be loading-in and setting up. (Noon until 5 PM.)
Right now we are exploring two options.
1) Play hard-ball and force them to move the pictures somewhere else. This might work, as they could easily use the lobby/gallery area for pictures, or even one of the classrooms upstairs. (We won't be using those spaces on Thursday during the load-in and setup.)
2) Extend the load-in and set-up time past 5 PM. This might actually work to our advantage, as it would mean things would not be nearly as rushed. We could get the Auditorium set up, and then break for a meal before returning around 6 PM or so to set up "Club-SELEM" in the cafeteria. Might be able to hang out until 10 or 11 and just goof off after we're done if we go this route.
I will have more information by early next week on exactly what we will be doing, but the venue manager has already agreed to stay as late as we require (at no additional charge to us) if we decide to go with option # 2.
Adam
I don't see that as being the worst thing in the world. You figure, we're usually tied up just doing the auditorium until pretty late in the afternoon. I wouldn't have figured we'd get started in the cafeteria until 3-4 anyway. I guess the bummer is losing the time for a crew to be covering the windows but, option 2 seems almost a no-brainer if we're getting an extra evening out of it. (Planetarium possibility nothwithstanding)

C'mon Gary,
There's going to be so much to see this year, you're going to miss what I KNOW will be the best SELEM yet!!!
I make a three hour drive every week and don't get to play with lasers (well, sometimes....) Why not spend some time talking about Spaghetti? We're still trying to make the Planetarium happen too! (your idea)
See ya there,
Greg

And that's just a basic setup.![]()
Yeah... I can throw up ClubSELEM and a whole lot more, pretty much any time I have the time and energy to drag the stuff out. So far, it's gone fairly well although, I will say more money has been made with non-coherent light (the LED uplighting) than with lasers. Best investment I've ever made in this stuff. (Well... not counting the DZ splitters!)
OK. I'm confused and I'm way to lazy to read this whole freakin' thread!
What exactly are the days and activities scheduled for this year?
As of now, we were planning on getting there in the day of Friday and staying Friday night and Saturday night.
I reserved a room at the Holiday Inn Express and got SELEM passes for myself and dchammonds.
So I guess we'll see you all there!
James.
