This is a longshot but I'm wondering if anyone at SELEM would be able to loan me their QM2000 package for a bit after SELEM. I'm thinking 2 or 3 weeks max. I would definitely make sure it stays safe and will return it with insurance to cover it. There would be something in it for you as well. If interested, PM me. If you live near me (Raleigh NC) that's even better. I'm mostly asking people who know who I am but if you don't know me and are interested there should be plenty of people who can vouch for me that I am not going to take your QM2000 and not return it or return it later than agreed. Thanks!

As most of you know I plan to fly my Cessna to SELEM. I've been watching the weather and so far it's looking good. I won't know for sure until the night before though.

I can catch a taxi if needed, but I'm looking for a ride from the Hickory Regional Airport to the Holiday Inn to check in and then the venue. From the venue it is only 13.5 miles to the airport. I plan to be there Thursday in the early afternoon. I will call when I land.

Here is a map showing the airport and address:

    Thank you in advance,
    Chris

If you get in early (before noon), I can pick you up Chris. But after 12, I'll be in full-on load-in and set-up mode, so I really can't leave the venue.

Nonetheless, I'm sure we can get someone to break away and give you a lift...

NOW WE hear the bridge is fixed

    from HIE
go east 300feet on 10th towards NC 16 BUS S
Stay on this (IIRC is also called main st and 1st AVE) for about 8 minutes
watch for 6th St then turn right school and venues will be on your right

to head back to HIE go EAST on W 6th then LEFT on Main go about 5 min.
continue onto NC 16 BUS S go about 8 min. then left and you will see the HIE.

copies of this and a map can be gotten at front desk HIE.
ONCE you find the school drive around and enter the big parking lot.

drive thru the parking lot and look for the two rows of covered parking
the raised loading dock and door you want will be straight ahead.
Park and enter these doors and find who ever is doing the sign in and badges.
You need to do this FIRST.. If may be best if name badges at all times in the venues.

Good Question-- maybe a call to the HIE would get the answer- someone with free LD should so that so we can mapquest a route around it.

Gary, I can probably spot you a QM, laptop and docking station if you want. It may be a little heavier to ship but it's a turnkey solution rather than having to obtain software, install it in a machine, etc. You could feel free to leave some spaghetti shows on it as payment. (If I don't already have them.)

    Hello,
I will be able to attend this year. I will bring my wife and maybe a guest. I will plan on being at the venue by noon on Thursday to help with set-up.I will bring the window coverings for Club Selem, and with more time, maybe we can cover both sides this time.

Thanks to inspiration from the Lumia seminar last year I have ventured down the lumia show path, although maybe a different path than most. I do my shows " TO THE MUSIC " , I project on a double scrim, and I include beams and graphics for contrast with the lumias.

I think its going to be another great SELEM, see you in a few days.

    Bill

ps The bridge work has been finished, I just reserved a room at the Holiday inn .

What is the normal amount of excitement to see a bunch of dudes twice your age huddled around a bunch of lasers in 4 days? I don't count the current day, and the day I'm counting to.

I don't talk in nearly as much jargon as most probably do. Nobody I work with understands it, so I always have to explain it from their level.

There was a time when they were talking about biology between a couple bio majors. I looked at them and realized that's how they feel every time I bring up lasers. I had NO idea what was going on.

Looking forward to this! Need a vacation, and excited to finally see a laser show.
