Default "not ready yet for the home workshop"

While browsing around I came across a page full of old popular science magazines from way back in time,
    http://blog.modernmechanix.com/publi...PopularScience
the covers are so interesting! a few clicks later I found myself staring at this CO2 lasercutter and all the ancient mounting techniques..
I noticed in the smaller picture inserted that the beam seems to be off center from its optic..
from 1963 ( Can anyone else find an error? ):

Uh.... He's wearing Mickey Mouse ears?

Also LASER is not "... electron radiation".

And a Xenon pumped ruby is not a CO2 laser!

He's also not wearing goggles. That's probably a no-no for a ruby laser.

My dad saved a whole bunch of magazines from the late 30s through the mid 50s. There are lots of Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, Mechanics Illustrated and some other Science Fiction Journals. Pretty neat stuff. Quite a bit of it is about technology that help us win WWII.
