Default Poor DPSS beam quality on new DHOM, how to correct ?

    EDIT :

Sorry for the false alarm. Divergence is a bit on the high side, but otherwise problem solved. The stripe out is only at lower power levels, which is how I measured it. With glasses on and full power, it becomes almost perfectly round. A beam expander will therefore work perfectly for my purposes.

After reading some good reviews, I bought a couple of 1W dhom's from winni with the intention of combining via pbs. They were very low cost, and outputting ~1.6W each (just over 3W combined) however the output is a horizontal stripe rather than a tem00 dot near field. Far field is seem proportional, just a larger stripe. I calculate divergence to be around 2.4 mrad at least in the 1 axis. So combined via pbs I am getting a very visible + at even short distances.

I'm wondering what the possible causes could be and if there is any way to correct this ? A beam expander would yield a smaller + at distance, however be preferred if I could somehow get it close at least to tem00

Also, both the lasers are the same, I am wondering if anyone else has had any issues, or are these not typical ?

The collimator appears as if it would be adjustable, however can't get it to turn. Would that potentially fix it anyhow ? Or is it more likely an internal issue ?

    Thanks,

    Miles"
