ooh ... divergence. That makes it now disappointing. The Chinese Laser promises 0.8..1.2mrad which will still make dot of 8..12cm.
I have read about collimator. The shortest projection target is 30meters, so theoretical that could work. But is there such a Laser projector on
the market, with affordable price and either very good divergence or somehow a collimator before the scanner?
n the meantime I think I forget better about the blue and go for a maybe 2W green only.

532 nm green is easy to see. The 445nm blue is more difficult to see details (in my opinion) , so I believe your choice is good .
Oh, and welcome to PL Reto

i absolutely agree with steve-o. green will be your best choice for visibility and divergence.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

One thing not mentioned here is laser safety. Whan shining 2 Watts of laser on to the track or other surfaces, please be sure that it can not accidently enter anyones eyes; direct or reflected from shiny objects etc.
    Cheers and good luck!

I look for something cool and unique. So I insist on the laser ;-) It gives me much more flexibility.
e.g. in off-times I can project on the track. Or maybe project into clouds.

    Thanks
Would anyone like to warn him of the ramifications of projecting into the sky with high powered lasers?? Im not entirely sure of the exact details but it is a federal offense in the U.S. to shine any type of laser at a plane (intentionally or un-intentionally)...

I'd definitely stick with green for this. Offers the highest visibility for your buck, it's easy to look at (445nm can appear to have a bit of a halo from a distance), and it's divergence and beam specs are better than diodes.

However, since you are going to be projecting a bunch of text, you're definitely going to need some high speed scanners. 40K might give you a few words flicker free, but it won't be able to display multiple lines of text and say, an animation at the same time.

it's less of a problem if the text is scrolling.
