Just been playing around with the new range of effects in Beyond v588. This is just the beginning, more 3D effect abstracts to follow...

Nice. Is that projected through Greg's Lenticular lens?

    Hi Al

No, this is done purely in Beyond. Unfortunately, I had to turn the brightness way down so my iPhone camera could handle it, therefore the modulation on the green suffers a bit.

I drew a wavy line to make a single frame. Then I applied a Kaleidoscope effect, a colour control effect, a spin effect and a rotation effect, then an oscillation rotation effect on the X axis and another of the same but on the Y axis... Phew!, the result is what you see, but as always it looks better in real life.

Not sure if this will work, but here's the cue...

I'm not sure if Beyond will copy over all the effects correctly, let me know how you get on.

Thanks Jem didn't expect you to share, much appreciated, I'll take a look then delete.

BTW, how do you record movement using the kaleidoscope / input recording? I haven't had time to have a proper explore and everytime I tried it didn't record so I'm missing something.

No worries, I don't generally mind sharing. Especially if it will help folks to get an understanding of some of the new features. This is actually quite simple, and if the cue works you should mess around with the kaleidoscope settings. It's great to be able to use any arbitrary shape as the basis for the cue and then develop it with different effects.

I haven't yet touched the kaleidoscope 'input recording' at all. When I do get around to it, and if I make any progress, i'll let you know.

    Cheers

    Jem

snuck in a little bit of time for abstracts.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Inspirational as always Swami, it puts my feeble attempt at 3D illusions to shame - Well done you

    Nice button smashing.

Even though I understand the theory of how you make your abstracts you are still an order of magnitude higher than anything I can produce.
