suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

this is very beautiful and i'm amazed at times how much your effects look like native LSX sequencing.

after re-watching this a few times: try rendering just a single section and then do the cloning (expression/loop) on the Y or X axis in LSX. i think you would get the same effect (try varying the Y-axis pre-move) but you could do some fun dynamic things in real time.

i need to hit you up for a clue on the blender plugin. i tried installing it last night, but but wasn't able to get it working. you're making some awesome stuff with it and it's a tool i would like to add to my arsenal.

I think it's just the same kind of "symmetrical organic abstract" style animations we are making, so the program doesn't make a difference. It's just that LSX has an event to automate the "dublicate event, rotate around center" while in Blender you have to do it manually, or write an automation script.

I understand exactly what you mean.
It won't look the same though, because the paths I modeled for most of the parts are 3d, not 2d. I hope you understand what I mean:

I'm not saying this can't be done with LSX though. I personally prefer to use a 3d modeller because I've been using them for years and this way I see exactly how the path my lines will travel will look like and I can also add 3d objects to the animations very quickly.
But it does come in a cost. You're right that I have less realtime control like this because the Blender render I use outputs 2d frames, not 3d.
I've actually been thinking of writing a plugin which will dump 3d frames instead, it is possible, but I haven't had enough free time for a project like that.

Swami: the dxf exporter only exports to 2D so it's not what you want for abstracts.
This minor drawback is compensated by proper hidden face detection.
It's a great plugin but not what I'd use for abstracts (probably because my Blender skills are lacking).

i don't need it for abstracts. but i think it would be handy for incorporating 3d animations into my shows. i did some early work with my old "pump up the volume" show:

but that was an exercise in rendering animations in lightwave with "render edges" invovled and then writing some unix scripts to turn rendered frames into svgs and then pumping them into ildsos. it works, but has limitations.

this one reminds me very much of some old TV animations as the movement is quite mechanic if you know what i mean
it's hard to explain, it's like watching a neon light or some old movie company logo at the beginning of a movie

haha i'm not saying i didn't like it, i just tried to express how i feel the animation but i guess it's hard with just few words written on paper, it would be best to discuss these things over a beer
