When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.

I blame Dan Briggs! He's the one who will have to explain to my wife what that huge 'thing' is on my desk
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

I wiped pretty much all traces of apple off my Mac pro so that I could do what I want, not what Apple want, it is top spec with 32 Gigs of RAM and about 6 Tera Bytes of storage.

Runs beautifully with just Windows 7/64.

You don't actually need to use Mac OS on a mac anymore with the modern Intel Based units, those Apple guys were smart after all.

Windows 7/64 runs like a dream and I started to think if there are macbooks based also on Intel for our show controls.

I have tested pretty much every one of the more common Laser show software and hardware's available on it; so far not a single problem which did indeed surprise me. Even programs I usually hate are running sweet.

My good lady wife was absolutely fine about it. In fact she commented on what a nice picture it was, although she did say it's rather large isn't it? To be honest I wasn't sure whether she was talking directly to me with that comment or talking about the 27" monitor

HeHe... All is good and what i'm seeing i'm loving. Although i've just been informed by someone this evening that I won't be able to run Bootcamp with a Fusion drive. Doesn't really matter though as I was going for VMWare Fusion so I can run Windows in a virtual environment.

Thanks for all the help and advice, i'm sure there'll be more questions as I delve deeper in to the dark art of 'Mac'

    Cheers

OK, so, i've had the iMac a few days now and am getting to grips with doing things differently to 'Windows'.

Beyond and the FB3 work perfectly. However, i'm having problems getting the network up and running in 'Fusion'. For some reason it won't see the QM.net - No particular hurry with this one though, I just need to spend a bit more time figuring out the problem.

Now a question... On the old 'Windows' laptop I used to have some software for circumventing the DRM on DVD's so that I could copy them to my iPad. Does anything similar exist for the Mac?, if so, any recommendations as to what's best?

Also, some of you recently recommended software that I could use to download YouTube videos on to my PC. Anyone have any similar recommentdations for the iMac?

    Thanks

    Jem

Working perfectly on a none working network, is contradiction?

What is not work, what is not working.

I thought I explained it pretty well...

Beyond runs fine in VMware's 'Fusion' and MS Windows 7 64bit Pro. I connect a USB FB3 and that links up to Beyond and I get laser output.

However, when I connect my QM2000.net, Beyond can't find it on the network. I suspect this is something to do with the network settings in the VM and has nothing to do with Beyond at all. Once i've investigated and got the network up and running correctly, I have no doubt that Beyond will work correctly as well. I guess someone with a knowledge of computer networks could find the problem straight away. Unfortunately, i'm not blessed with networking knowledge, so it may take me a little longer

    Jem,
You need to bridge your ethernet adapter in Fusion (I use parallels, the same feature will be in Fusion, but it might be under a different name).
(They also obviously need to be on the same subnet.)
