Hmmm... You might want to experiment with some DVD burner diodes. You can get a lot of red out of them (upwards of 150 mw if you are careful) and they're quite inexpensive. Search the forums here for information on assembling driver circuits, etc.
Maybe a nice green labby 300mW, but who knows.. these things are a money pit
They are indeed. However, you can find very reasonable prices on DPSS green modules up to around 200 mw on E-bay these days. Remember that if you're going to do laser show effects you'll want to stay away from modded pointers and handheld units though. (No sense paying for the form factor if you don't need it, plus they don't have adequate cooling.)

So, how did you scan your nickname for your signature picture? Home-built galvos? Hand drawn with a pointer and a *very* long exposure time? I'm really curious!

I have messed with one dvd diode and I got over excited and blew it to hell and gone. I do have two more burners that are good candidates for extraction. In my line of work I get lots of spare parts. I just havent got the time to set up yet. next time i wont juice the diode straight up im going to pot it and do it right.

my sig is hand drawn with over exsposure.

    Hi Boticron
    Welcome to the forum..

    Nice pic on your signature
But can you please only make it appear in the first post only ?
If not it will take up so much space... and it`s a damn pain to scroll 5pages down to just find the text

    Thanx for understanding 8)

    Cheers

Before you take the next one apart, have a look at these three threads here on PhotonLexicon:

    http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...pic.php?p=2553
    http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...pic.php?p=3173
    http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...pic.php?p=4900

There is some good information in there about static precautions, driver circuits, etc. Some of the threads are a little old, but the links should still work. It might save you from blowing up another diode. (I fried my first one - as you'll see in on e of the threads above - because I didn't take the proper static precautions.)

Ah... I thought so. Cool! 8)
