Default Did I kill my laser module?

So I had this laser laying around that wasnt being used. I figured I wanted to experiment with the module. Problem is it didnt come out no matter what I tried. So I used a dremel to get it out (dont flame I knew it was stupid to do) Once I got it out I tried to test it and it didnt work (big shocker )

Here is a picture of the module and how I tried to test it. To me it dosent look like there is that much damage to kill it but who knows

This is how I tried to test it. I put batteried in the back half and then put my module in and pressed the button and nothing happened.

I dont know what you mean by -ve

But the reason why I tried it in a case with batteries is because I think it needs to be grounded or something or it wont work. But it didnt work anyways so I dont know.

Electrically connect the two halves of the case.

Thanks a lot for that buddy. I took some aluminum foil and made it so it touched (honestly didnt expect much) and it worked. Now I know that it works, what can I use to power it? I want to solder 2 leads coming off, but how many volts does a module need, its between 3 and 5V right?

On this diagram right here it shows that the negative is the spring. But to me it appears it would be on the opposite side of where the positive is.
