Facebook - Backup Plan B ?
Hi all
As some of you are already aware I set up a Facebook group during the recent outage of PL. I did this because I was concerned that we had no means of communicating with our PL friends during said outage (& I was missing my photon fix 
). I thought it would be an absolute travesty to lose contact with people, and it made me realise that the very nature of the internet (and our online relationships) hangs by the finest thread. There must have been some interest/need as within a couple of days we have over 60 members (and quite a lot of action).
I never really had any thoughts about the FB group continuing once PL was back on line. However, I do think that an alternative means of communication and a safe refuge would be a good thing in times of emergency.
I would therefore ask that if you would like to be included in the 'Backup plan B' you head over to Facebook and register yourself as a member of the group. I have made the group private so only members can see messages. This means that folks will have to find it by coming here first and reading this thread, or by having being recommended by someone here.

I don't expect there to be very much activity on the FB group whilst PL is operational as I think it's much better for everyone to post here. But, to just have it sat there in case of emergency is, i feel, invaluable.

It's great news that PL is back up and running again, thanks to Spec for his continued efforts in keeping one of the very best (& friendliest) forums alive.
I've been deliberating about this FB group, on whether to abandon it and remove all traces, or whether to keep it just sat here 'just in case' the worst should happen again.
On reflection, I think it would be nice if we could just keep it here, and keep popping in now and again to say 'hi'. It would also serve as a secondary means of contact for the regulars on PL.
With this in mind I have decided to put a post on PL pointing folks to this FB group and if they haven't already, asking them to register.
If you have any thoughts on this please post them here. Please bear in mind that this group was set up with the very best of intentions of keeping our group together and I wouldn't for one minute want it to detract anything from PL. However, I can't help thinking a backup plan is always a good idea :-)
