Default new LSX show "Cotton Eye Joe"

i've been wanting to make something with an old school analog abstract feel and a re-discovered this track in my "make laser shows to this" music folder.

here's a big fast angry galvo abstract show to one of my secret shame bands "the rednex".

    enjoy!

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

    I absolutely hate this song
This must have been the first time i listened to it without feeling like smashing the source of the sound

maybe those superb abstracts had something to do with it

i will take that as a compliment

it's a big dumb loud funny song, and kind of a secret shame of mine... at least it's not gangnam style.

Nice show - and one I could actually see using someday. I don't necessarily hate the song (although I'd not heard that version) but, many of the weddings and most of the kids birthday parties and bar/bat mitzvahs have it so, I do hear it sometimes multiple times a weekend.

the rednex were pretty big back in the days when i lived in a crumbling old house and worked for the engineering technology department at university. we'd alternate between mtv (hoping for beavis and butthead) and our giant pile of bootleg simpsons vhs tapes.

i had the pleasure, a few years ago, of meeting and filming the native american poet n. scott momaday (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._Scott_Momaday). he sung the chorus of it during his presentation and spoke about his memories of the song while growing up.

so, i have some nice memories of the song. i also have some pretty questionable musical tastes.

Wow! More killer abstracts! I've got a red Opnext diode on the way, and am going to get a DZ color correction board to fix my green. I'm anxious to play a bit more indepth with LSX timeline abstracts. I assume you're coming up with the pattern then dropping movement effects on them? Or are you using the oscillators only?

The crazy thing is a friend had the CD for the Rednex and it said it was recorded at Future Crew Studios as I recall. Future Crew was a PC demo group out of Finland. I always wondered if there was a connection with the studio name or what. Grew up watching 2nd Reality over and over., along with some others.

Anyways -- killer job with the abstracts.

    thanks telmnstr!

i have a dz color correction board in my projector. it makes a huge difference, and i strongly recommend them.

i created all the base abstracts in the lissajous editor and then i manipulated them with event effects on the timeline.

thanks for the trivia on the rednex. the wiki entry has a lot of interesting info on their history.
