I wonder what the MTTF would be at this current? Maybe days or just hours ..
Was there any time testing done?
Thank you!! Glad to be aboard.

There used to be a member over at LPF (IgorT) that would test longevity, but he has gone missing for some time now.

From what I've gathered over time is that tuned efficiency, and not setting it on a knee bend in the graph will keep any diode running for a very long time. Good heat sinking should be enough if you dont push the diode too much.

IMHO running the 520s at ~260-280mA would be the sweet spot. Obviously a more efficient diode could handle a little more.

I'll go along with that too. It's pretty much been my thought that running a diode in a region of clean stability increases its chances at long life when driven hard. Take care though, while I look at http://redlum.xohp.pagesperso-orange...eanalysis.html for a guide to diode stability, the guy whose page that is told me that this is still not that good a guide once we start pushing them significantly beyond spec limits.

When pushing a diode hard, I noticed that specularity decreases, the same way that the clean sinewave of a resonant audio filter loses its sharp clean note to distortion, and energy is lost in erratic emission if feedback or input is too strong. In each case, line broadening. So I assumed the resonance of each system was enough of a parallel to indicate that this line broadening was a key to avoiding excess. Mode hopping can and will happen anyway (the Rohm diodes did it entirely too much!), but the really dangerous instability is one that forces emissions not cleanly tuned to the main frequency. Once chaos starts to dominate, the diode facet is very vulnerable. There may be other things going on that I don't know about, but when I learned this, I stopped losing diodes fast.

if you're on the fence about buying one of these kits for building a low power all single mode diode projector for show programming....

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Colors/modulation/colors matching are amazing, as the show you programmed !

In fact if there hadn't been some tiny flickering, one would have thought that this video comes from the preview window of the software .

I just ordered 10 and will report back on how well they hold up.
Quick note. It seems some of these Chinese companies figured out we are using these for laser mounts because these have more than doubled in price in most cases.

Chris, I think I have already said this but that is, by far, my favorite show of yours. I like the analog style spiral mod you have going on at 0:26. I could get lost in that!

i've been trying really hard to make LSX pretend it's an analog console.

i can't say enough good things about these little diode bundles.
