sorry but I just had to share with you what I said in chat:
[22:58] <+LaserCo> look at this rgb, if shit hit the fan and there was no power etc.. you could cut down a tree with this RGB! http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...011#post273011

I'm assuming you steer the diode mount around a little with the two screws.. great idea!
The slot is for a screwdriver?

Yes, it can double as a tree saw. Kinda resembles a pacman ghost too.

The two small screws on the side of the brass diode plate clamp the diode. The slots relieve stress in the metal to help clamp the diode evenly. The two screws on the back allow the plate to be moved allowing the spots to be overlapped.

Well, I've just ordered 2 sets with G-2 lenses. My build/s have finally got their first components!

    What next? :P

What can I say? That was quick!

Great service, fast shipment, well packaged - Thanks DTR!

Testing will have to wait until I have some drivers, PSUs etc.

I wonder how the o-like lenses perform with these. Has anybody tried them ? As they seem to be fairly low loss, not quite as low the g2, but definitely a nice price / performance ratio. If comparable to their performance with the multimode 445nm's, perhaps a slightly larger beam w/ slightly lower divergence ? If the coatings are broadband, may be a good option. I've a few of them sitting around, I think I will give them a try when I get around to my build (still need to pickup a set of diodes, but have plans to in the near future..)

And on a separate note, has anyone tried super cooling the single mode's ? Mainly interested in how the pl520 will perform.

I've hear these work really well for lower power diodes, and are cheap. http://www.ebay.com/itm/12mm-SK12-Li...item20d829fe2f

I just ordered 10 and will report back on how well they hold up.

Edit: They look just the ones you are using Swamidog. Are they the same???

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
