Some where on LPF there is a google spread sheet showing the current/power of the 520s at ambient temps & chilled pretty cold. I believe the spreadsheet also shows the wavelength shift.

Thanks Stiffler. Had a little search yesterday but only found some vague answers. I'll have another look today.

If I had the info I'd post it. I looked it up last I needed it and never archived it sorry. Iirc search the diode number and the word chart or graph.

Thanks Polished Ball. I found this for the HL63603TG so far.

I don't know a great deal about laser diodes in general, so from my guessing would I want to keep the response as linear as possible, so maybe set a maximum of 280-300mA for this diode?

Here is info on 2 520nm murder fund diodes.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the data TechJunkie, and welcome to PL
I wonder what the MTTF would be at this current? Maybe days or just hours ..
Was there any time testing done?

Hours and power will rapidly fall with heat. Stick at 80mw level and it will run a long time ime. Have one that has been at that level in a Lumia rig for sometime now. I do have it heatsinked and cooled well

    Thanks for the info TJ!

PB: As I'm building sealed lasers, do you think TEC may be a wise choice, even if just running them at low power?

These lasers are going to have pretty high duty cycles and I'd rather minimise the likelihood of dead diodes.

    This might help:

He told me recently that it isn't usually possible to infer lifetime for strong drive based on apparent stability at lower powers, but he is interested in avoiding modehops, which you need to do too, to get a large linear range. People have often said that the extra power of the Oclaro 170 mW diode isn't enough to justify the expense, but look at its linear range! Even holographers are impressed by it. It's probably worth going for that diode on this basis alone if you want to be sure of lots of sharp, highly linear red. The one DTR sells might be fairly linear, but apparently the 170 mW one is outstanding.

TD not PB, but NM. If you can keep the projector at room temperature, then very good thermal coupling of the diodes might be better. TEC's usually make sense only if you need a local low temperature, because the one thing they will always do is heat the rest of the system, probably a lot. That green might get a bit sickly if you cool it too much, it's already a bit shortwave as it is. I intend to use TEC's but I hope to find longwave green diodes by the time I can afford to go back to single mode diodes.
